Realism and other paintings

Early works by the artist were realistic. While experimenting with watercolours, he painted flowers, landscapes and still lifes. This was followed by acrylics and then temperas and oils. His earlier works were studies of Rubens, Rafael, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Constable and other prominent European and western artists. His oil paintings are colourful, many depicting a Ukrainian theme of the beautiful Carpathian mountains and scenes. He is also influenced by reknowned ukrainian artists of the past. He has created many historical paintings from the Cossack period and the Princely period of Ukrainian history. Many of the paintings from this period also represent the people of Ukraine in traditional dress and traditional lifestyles.
